Ingredients your skin will LOVE!

Ingredients your skin will LOVE!

There are so many different ingredients we use in our daily skin care products, it can be overwhelming but SO helpful to know what they are and what they do. We’ve created a list of ingredients that we love using in our HMB products!

Almond Oil

Almond Oil

Almonds are filled with nutritious vitamins and protein but when people aren’t busy snacking on them, the extracted oil is used in so many different products! Almond oil is an anti-inflammatory and has emollient qualities (that’s a fancy word for softening or soothing the skin), it's been used for thousands of years to treat dry skin and reduce scarring. Many skin care companies like to use this oil to help repair and maintain healthy skin, which is why we blend Almond Oil with other nourishing Oils and Butters in our Lip Conditioner range.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is one of those popular plants that everyone knows about. They’re used in Skincare products, Drinks and even can be in Salads and Dips! Plus, since they’re a succulent, they make a great houseplant too.

The reason for its popularity is simple - Aloe Vera has a long history of being helpful. From way back in Ancient Egypt til today, it’s been grown and fashioned into various forms but we adore it for the therapeutic skin benefits. We use Aloe Vera in our Face Masks via a powdered form to give you a smooth, clear and hydrated face, thanks to the anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory properties.

Coconut products

Coconut

Coconuts are incredible, full of nutritious value and they just smell and taste amazing. We use both Coconut Milk and Coconut Oil in our products.

Coconut Milk is made by grating the white pulp of the coconut, soaking it in hot water and extracting all that good stuff into a creamy and sweet mixture. Then it’s strained and voila - amazingly therapeutic and delicious Coconut Milk! It has excellent moisturising properties, Vitamin C and smells divine! Hence why we use it as a core ingredient in our Coconut Soak range.

Unlike Coconut Milk, Coconut oil is extracted by pressing either fresh or dried coconut fruit to squeeze it out. It’s used as an anti-inflammatory, helping against free radicals, and contains a lot of Lauric Acid which boosts Collagen production! The perfect Ingredient for our Lip Exfoliatior range.

Coffee

Coffee

Coffee needs no introduction, I think? We all love that caffeine hit to keep us going, but as the culture around Coffee has evolved, the beauty industry have found many, amazing ways to use it in our daily skincare routine!

Coffee granules are an excellent exfoliant; they’re natural, gritty and smell SO GOOD - what's not to love? Plus the caffeine in the granules helps boost blood flow giving you beautiful skin a glow up! We created our Coffee Scrub to help remove any dry skin and lock in moisture!

Grapeseed Oil

Grapeseed Oil

Grapeseed Oil is just that, Oil that’s pressed out of Grape Seeds. It’s actually a by-product from making Wine (to make use of those leftover seeds). The skin care benefits come from a high content of Vitamin E and Omega-6, which are moisturising and help protect from free radicals. It’s super absorbent on your skin, whilst being a light Oil that won’t clog your pores. The perfect ingredient for Oily/Acne Prone skin!

We use it in our Whipped Soap range to give your skin these amazing benefits whilst enjoying a bubbly foamy Soap.

Jojoba Oil

Jojoba Oil

Jojoba Oil is an amazing ingredient, extracted from the resilient, Jojoba Shrub that grows in some dry regions of Mexico and southwestern USA. It's extracted by cold pressing the seeds and filtering through until you get a gorgeous oil with so many benefits!

Reasons to use this ingredient: Moisturising, an antibacterial, an antioxidant, hypoallergenic, reduces dry skin and inflammation.

Reasons not to use this ingredient: nil

We use Jojoba Oil in our Lip Conditioner range because of its amazing properties that give you smooth, supple and healthy lips!

Pomegranate Oil

Pomegranate Seed Oil

Fun Fact: Pomegranate's name comes from Medieval Latin meaning “Apple Seeded". This fruit has a lot of history behind it, especially since it was one of the first domesticated trees in the Mediterranean Region several thousand years ago. By using this oil, you can help your skin in a variety of ways:
1) Relieving dry and discomforted skin
2) Speeding up healing wounds
3) Moisturising without clogging pores
4) Boosting collagen production and helping skin elasticity!

Our Detox Clay Mask makes use of this Oil to help repair and rejuvenate your skin after drawing out impurities and controlling any spots or acne.

Sugar

Sugar

Sugar is often given a bad name for health reasons (that won’t stop me having my 2 teaspoons in my tea), but your skin can really benefit from it! Our skin gains a lot from a good exfoliation, and the texture and properties of sugar help with that.

Exfoliating your skin with Sugar Granules will help to open up the pores and remove any built up dirt and debris, making it easier to absorb any oils or moisturisers put on afterwards, creating beautiful, silky smooth skin.

Our Body Scrub range makes uses Sugars, Walnuts, Salts and Coffee to help exfoliate the skin!
